GERMANY - Former Mizzou volleyball All-American Molly Kreklow guided her professional team, Dresdner SC, to a Bundesliga Championship for the second year in a row. After a two-and-a-half hour match, Dresdner SC was able to hold off Allianz MTV Stuttgart in a fifth set tiebreak win, 15-12.
A sold-out crowd of 3,000 fans provided an electric atmosphere for the team as the night began. They started the match off strong by taking the first set, 28-26, but then fell behind after losing the next two. However with a close fourth set win, 27-25, and a fifth set tiebreak win, the ladies of Dresdner SC are once again able to call themselves the German League Champions.
This was the club's fourth championship win, as they previously won in 1997, 2007 and 2014. The board now needs to focus on developing a team for the next season since only five of the current players have contracts until 2016. It was Kreklow's first year with the program, guiding Dresdner to a championship in Germany's top professional volleyball league.
