Two Tigers Named to Preseason Softball All-SEC Team

Feb. 5, 2015

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Southeastern Conference released its annual Preseason All-SEC Team on Thursday. Mizzou standouts junior OF Taylor Gadbois (Maryville, Mo.) and sophomore pitcher Tori Finucane (Germantown, Md.) were two of 16 student-athletes named to the list.

Mizzou was one of six SEC schools with at least two selections. The Preseason All-SEC Team is voted on by the league's head coaches.

Finucane returns to the circle in 2015 after racking up 21 wins during her first collegiate campaign. The 2014 Freshman of the Year hurled 19 completes games and posted a 1.73 ERA last season. One of only three pitchers on the Preseason All-SEC Team, Finucane looks to add to her 11 career victories in conference play.

Gadbois had a breakout 2014 campaign. The speedster led the SEC with 46 stolen bases and collected 85 hits, which ranks second all-time in school history for a single season. Gadbois earned a First Team All-SEC nod. She was also named an NCFA Third Team All-American in 2014, becoming the sixth Mizzou softball player to earn that distinction since 2008.

Mizzou is ranked No. 17 in both preseason Top 25 polls. The Tigers are one week away from heading to Clermont, Fla., to begin their season at the Dot Richardson Invitational. Mizzou opens up play with a doubleheader against Louisville and Chattanooga on Friday, Feb. 13.
