COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou Softball downed South Dakota State, 13-0, on Sunday, finishing the Dot Richardson Invitational with a 4-1 record. On her birthday, junior Sami Fagan (Dunnellon, Fla.) went 2-for-4 at the plate with two home runs and five RBI to propel the Tigers to an easy victory.

Mizzou's offense exploded as the Tigers racked up 12 hits and drew eight total walks. Fagan launched the offensive surge with a first-inning, three-run home run that handed her team a 3-0 lead three batters into the game.

The two squads traded scoreless frames until the fifth inning, when Mizzou pushed across three more runs. After junior Taylor Gadbois (Maryville, Mo.) roped a single to centerfield, Emily Crane (Troy, Mo.) hit her home with an RBI base knock. Following back-to-back walks, freshman Paige Bange (Jefferson City, Mo.) collected her first career RBI with a groundout to the right side of the infield. Mizzou polished off the inning by plating a run on an SDSU error.

The Tigers built a commanding advantage in the seventh inning. With the bases loaded, senior Corrin Genovese (East Amherst, N.Y.) lined a bases-clearing triple to give Mizzou a 9-0 advantage.

Later in the frame, Fagan crushed her second home run of the game, this time a two-run bomb. During the next at bat, sophomore Kirsten Mack (Riverside, Calif.) followed Fagan with a home run well-beyond the centerfield wall for her first long ball of the 2015 campaign.

In the circle, sophomore pitcher Cheyenne Baxter (Norborne, Mo.) got her first start as a Tiger. Baxter pitched 4.1 dominant innings, striking out five and allowing zero runs. She collected her first win in a Mizzou uniform on Sunday.

Mizzou returns to action next week at the Mary Nutter Classic in California. For all the latest on Mizzou Softball, stay tuned to MUTigers.com and follow the team on twitter @MizzouSoftball.
