COLUMBIA, MO. - - Former Tiger standout Bri Kulas has signed a contract to play professional basketball overseas with Club Baloncesto Islas Canarias, a program located in the Canary Islands of Spain. Kulas will head to the Islands Sept. 15 for the start of the season.
"I felt like going to play with this team for the season would be an amazing opportunity for me," Kulas said. "After talking with my agent we agreed that it would be a great starting point for my career and to build my resume. The team finished third in their league last year and they will also be playing in the FIBA Cup this year. It will definitely be a high level of competition. The Canary Islands have some of the best weather in the world so I am anxious to get out there and do what I have always dreamt of; travel the world and play basketball."
Coached by Domingo Diaz Martin, CB Islas Canarias is a professional basketball team located in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, which participates in la Liga Femenina de Baloncesto. In addition to its championship titles, the Club is the recipient of many awards including the Canary Sports Award and the Gold Medal of the Canary Islands Foundation. The Club boasts two Queen's Cup championship titles and a Ronchetti Cup title as well.
