COLUMBIA, Mo. - Karissa Schweizer will return to the cross country course one last time this fall, as the lone Tiger at the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind., on Friday (November 22).  The freshman led the squad at last weekend's NCAA Midwest Regional Championship in Peoria, Ill., finishing seventh in the field to clinch an All-Midwest Regional honor and individual qualification into the season's final meet.

It's been an exciting debut season for Schweizer, who became the second consecutive Tiger woman to earn the SEC Freshman of the Year award after placing 17th at the conference championship meet in Tuscaloosa, Ala.  Along with leading the black and gold at the Regional meet, Schweizer also took the reins earlier in the season at the Greater Louisville Classic, placing 11th in the competitive field.

Schweizer is one of five freshman to earn individual bids into the Championship meet.  A total of 38 individuals qualified, and 18 teams from across the country.

This is the second consecutive year that a Tiger freshman has qualified for the NCAA Championships, after Kaitlyn Fischer placed 79th at the meet in Terre Haute last year.

Schweizer will take to the line at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course at noon, ET, on Saturday November 22.  Live coverage of the meet will be streamed here, courtesy of the NCAA.  For the latest on your Tigers, stay tuned to MUTigers.com and follow the team on Twitter @MIZ_TrackField.
