COLUMBIA, Mo. - University of Missouri sophomore swimmer Carter Griffin was named to the 2015 Pan American Games roster, USA Swimming announced on Thursday. Griffin will swim the 100 and 200 backstroke events at the Games, which begin June 11 in Toronto, Canada. earned his spot on the team based on his finishes at this past summer's U.S. Nationals.
Griffin claimed his spot on the U.S. roster after a solid showing at the 2014 Phillips 66 U.S. National Championships in August, where he clocked a time of 1:58.87 to place sixth overall in the `A' final of the 200 back.
The Pan American Games will mark the first time Griffin will represent Team USA at an international event. The Parker, Colo., native qualified for the NCAA Championships during his freshman year at Mizzou and enters his sophomore campaign as the school record holder in the 200 back with a 1:41.67.
