COLUMBIA, Mo. - This Friday's Mizzou volleyball match vs. LSU at 6 p.m. at the Hearnes Center is the first ever Social Media Match, where fans can engage with the volleyball program on social media during the match. To get prepared and to get into the action early, fans can start following Mizzou Volleyball on Twitter (@MizzouVB), Facebook (facebook.com/mizzouvolleyball) and follow Mizzou Athletics on Snapchat (mizzouathletics).
Fans are encouraged to start using the hashtag #BeatLSU Thursday and continue to use it throughout the entire match on Friday. Fans will be able to request songs during the match, contestants for contests will be chosen via Twitter and fans will be rewarded for clever tweets throughout the match. The #BeatLSU hashtag must be used for consideration for prizes and contests.
Mizzou Volleyball will give away various prizes over the next two days to our social media followers. Starting Thursday, we will tweet a question, and the first person to find us at Speaker's Circle with the correct answer will win a gift card. We will also have a pre-game question in which the winning fan will receive an exclusive autographed volleyball. On top of those contests, the contestant for "Name That Tune" will be selected through Twitter and the usage of #BeatLSU.
Fans can further engage with Mizzou Volleyball by requesting songs during the match through Twitter, and our staff will play as many of those songs as possible. Both the names and Twitter handles of people who request a song that plays will be announced to the crowd.
