Mizzou Softball Cruises to Two More Fall Victories

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou Softball continued its fall schedule with two more wins on Friday at University Field, defeating North Central Missouri College, 24-4, and Highland Community College, 11-0. The Tigers saw two impressive performances logged in the win vs. NCMC, with both junior 2B/OF Emily Crane (Troy, Mo.) and sophomore 3B/2B Natalie Fleming (Silex, Mo.) recording five hits.

Fleming accounted for a team-high seven RBI in a 5-for-6 game vs. North Central Missouri, while Crane batted 5-for-7 with four RBI, including a home run. Game One for the day also included four Tigers who recorded three hits. Redshirt junior OF Taylor Gadbois (Maryville, Mo.), senior 1B Kelsea Roth (Yorba Linda, Calif.), freshman IF Sydney Sprague (Columbus, Ga.) and redshirt sophomore 2B Ashtin Stephens (Blue Springs, Mo.) each racked up a trio of hits in the win.

Sophomore P Tori Finucane (Germantown, M.D.) pitched the Tigers to the win with an impressive 12 strikeouts in 5.0 innings of work. Finucane yielded two hits with one run allowed and zero walks issued.

In Game Two of the day, freshman P Paige Lowary (Dallas Center, Iowa) and sophomore P Cheyenne Baxter (Norborne, Mo.) combined to no-hit Highland CC, with Lowary striking out 11 batters in 5.0 innings to earn the victory in the circle. Baxter pitched the final 2.0 innings of both wins on the day.

Senior IF Corrin Genovese (East Amherst, N.Y.) led the way for the Tigers to close the day, batting 3-for-5 with a team-best four RBI and two stolen bases. Freshman 1B/3B/RF Amanda Sanchez (West Covina, Calif.) smacked the squad's only home run in a 1-for-3 game at the plate.

Mizzou keeps the fall action rolling at University Field on Friday, Oct. 3, facing Mineral Area College (3 p.m.) and Butler Community College (5 p.m.). Admission is free of charge.
