Kaitlyn Clark Named SEC Freshman of the Week

Sept. 22, 2014

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Mizzou soccer freshman midfielder Kaitlyn Clark was named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week after helping the Tigers post a win over LSU in their SEC opener, the league office announced on Monday.

Clark earned the first three points of her career in Missouri's 3-1 victory over LSU on Sept. 19 at Walton Stadium. She recorded the first assist of her career on Mizzou's opening goal in the 51st minute. Then with the match knotted at 1-1, the freshman dribbled down the left side, cut toward the box and slotted in an 18-yard shot for her first collegiate tally and the game eventual game-winner in the 61st minute.

A native of Liberty, Mo., Clark has played in all nine games and earned six starts in the midfield in 2014. Her five points rank fifth on the squad.

The Tigers hit the road this weekend for a pair of contests against ranked SEC foes. Mizzou faces No. 14 South Carolina on Friday, Sept. 26 at 6 p.m. ET (5 p.m. CT) before a 2 p.m. ET (1 p.m. CT) clash against No. 7 Florida on Sunday, Sept. 28 in a match televised on ESPNU and the SEC Network.
