Black topped gold in the annual scrimmage.

COLUMBIA, Mo. - A strong showing from Preseason All-SEC picks Carly Kan (Honolulu, Hawaii) and Whitney Little (Keller, Texas) guided the Black Team to a 2-0 (25-20, 25-22) win the annual Black & Gold Scrimmage for the No. 15 Mizzou volleyball program. In all, Kan finished the night with 11 kills on .391 hitting with three digs and two blocks while Little added six kills on 11 errorless attempts (.545 hitting). In all, the All-American duo was a big reason why the Black Team hit .357 in the win.

"Overall I was really pleased with how they came out tonight and played with a lot of energy," head coach Wayne Kreklow said. "It's great to get out and play a match in front of fans for the first time so a lot of the newcomers can get some of the jitters out. We looked good at times and not so good at others, but I thought we improved on a lot of things and we have a lot to build upon as we get back to practice."

The .357 attack clip for the Black squad should come as no surprise for a team that led the nation in hitting a year ago. The Gold squad hit .239 behind five kills from freshman Kasey Reuter (Sioux Falls, Iowa) and four kills on nine errorless attempts from junior Regan Peltier (Nixa, Mo.). Senior Emily Wilson (Omaha, Neb.) combined for eight kills on .286 hitting.

Sophomore setter Loxley Keala (Honolulu, Hawaii) guided the Black squad to its .357 hitting percentage spreading 19 assists and combining for 24 total while splitting time on both sides of the net. Freshman Ali Kreklow (Columbia, Mo.) had 17 assists in the two sets. Senior libero Sarah Meister (San Diego, Calif.) tallied six digs for the black team.
