Mizzou Golf Final Round Notes

Missouri is headed to the NCAA Finals for the ninth time in program history and for the first time since 2005. Mizzou's third-place finish today was its best in program history at an NCAA Regional.

Missouri claimed its second individual title at an NCAA Regional under Head Coach Mark Leroux. Emilio Cuartero's (-11) title adds to the title won by Jace Long at the NCAA Southeast Regional in Ocala, Fla., in 2011.

Cuartero shot a final-round 65 (-7) today, his lowest round of the season. His 65 is also the lowest by a Tiger at The Club at Old Hawthorne in a championship event. Frederik Hammer of Ohio State actually set the course's collegiate record today with a 64.

Hunter Kraus (-10) finished second overall at the NCAA Regional Championship and shot three consecutive sub-70 rounds of 68-69-69 to finish one shot off the lead. The three-round 206 was the lowest 54-hole total of the season for Kraus, a senior from Memphis. His second-place finish was also his best of the year.

Ryan Zech finished 12th at the NCAA Regional and was even-par on Saturday. Zech has finished among the Top 20 six times this season and in back-to-back championship events following his 19th place showing at the SEC Championships.

How good is the Southeastern Conference in golf? The field in Hutchinson, Kan., will feature 10 teams from the league, meaning 10-of-30 teams will come from the SEC!

No Tiger was over par on Saturday and both Wilson Sundvold (71) and Euan Walker (71) were under par and "counters" for Mizzou. Walker finished 2-under-par over his final 36 holes (71-71) and Sundvold improved each round of the championship.

Just a freshman, Walker has eight Top 30 finishes this season.
