COLUMBIA, Mo.- The freshman duo of 3B/2B Natalie Fleming (Silex, Mo.) and pitcher Tori Finucane (Germantown, Md.) once again combined for two impressive performances for No. 13 Mizzou Softball in the final game of the weekend series against Ole Miss. Three runs and two RBI from Fleming and 6.0 innings of two-hit softball from Finucane gave the Tigers a 9-1 run-rule victory in six innings and the series sweep to improve their record to 35-12 (12-6 in SEC play).

Fleming hit her third home run in two days, a solo shot to left field, in the second inning to give head coach Ehren Earleywine's squad an early 1-0 lead. In the third inning, freshman IF/OF Kelli Schkade (Albany, Texas) walked and made her way around the bases to third base before sophomore OF Emily Crane (Troy, Mo.) brought her in on an RBI groundout for a 2-0 Tiger advantage.

Fleming's next time up, she led off the fourth inning with a walk before coming around to score when Schkade hit into a fielder's choice grounder. An error on the attempted throw home to get an already safe Fleming advanced the runners and allowed junior IF Corrin Genovese (East Amherst, N.Y.), who had previously singled, to score to put Mizzou up 4-0 on Ole Miss.

Having finished off a complete game shutout just 17 hours earlier, Finucane continued to keep the clamps on the Ole Miss offense. She pitched 6.0 innings, giving up only two hits, one unearned run and two walks, while striking out five.

With two outs in the fifth inning, Fleming and junior 1B Kelsea Roth (Yorba Linda, Calif.) picked up back-to-back walks. Genovese continued her conference hot streak with a single to right center field to bring in Fleming for her third run of the game. The RBI-single pushed the Mizzou lead to 5-0.

Ole Miss got one back after RT Cantillo singled and was moved up on a fielder's choice and passed ball. A sacrifice fly brought her in to cut the Tiger lead to 5-1.

Schkade and Gadbois led off the sixth inning with back-to-back singles before Crane knocked a single to right field that brought both Tigers in to score. The hit bumped Crane's RBI total up to three for the day. With Crane standing on first, senior OF Mackenzie Sykes (Blue Springs, Mo.) roped a triple to right field, setting up Fleming to send a sacrifice fly to right field to end the game by run rule at 9-1 for the series sweep.

The Tigers return to action with a midweek game against Missouri State on Wednesday, April 23, at University Field at 5 p.m. The game will be televised on Mediacom's MC22.
