PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas - In the midst of a three-match Texas swing, the Mizzou tennis team breezed to a 4-0 sweep over Prairie View A&M on Sunday morning. The Tigers improved to 6-14 on the season, while the Panthers fell to 1-10.
Missouri went up 1-0 over Prairie View A&M with wins at No. 1 and 3 doubles. The Tigers' top team of seniors Cierra Gaytan-Leach and Rachel Stuhlmann eased to an 8-1 victory over Brittany Harrell and Taylor LeFridge. At No. 3 doubles, sophomore Kelli Hine and freshman Tracy Dong downed Sydney Thomas and Maria Lackey, 8-1, as well.
In singles action, the Tigers were victorious at No. 1, 4 and 5 play to clinch the team win. At No. 1, Gaytan-Leach earned a 6-2, 6-1 win over LeFridge. Sophomore Madison Rhyner defeated Donielle Richard, 6-0, 6-1, while freshman Cassidy Spearman notched a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Thomas.
Missouri returns to the court on Tuesday with a 1 p.m. match at Rice.
