The Hofstra softball team earned a 2-0 victory over Oregon State in the Colubmia Regional's first game for the 2013 NCAA Division I Softball Championship on Friday, May 17, at University Field. The Pride will play the winner of Friday evening's Mizzou-Stony Brook game on Saturday, May 18, at Noon CDT, while the Beavers take on the loser on Saturday, May 18, at 2:30 p.m. CDT.

Hofstra improved to 44-11 on the season, while Oregon State fell to 33-32.

Pride senior pitcher Olivia Galati earned her school-record 38th win of the season while striking out five, issuing no walks and scattering five hits.

Hofstra broke through with two runs in the bottom of the fifth after both teams stranded multiple runners in the early innings. Galati, shortstop Becca Bigler and DH Chloe Fitzgerald each singled to load the bases with no one out. After a popout from second baseman Tori Rocca, center fielder Tessa Ziemba blasted a double to right center to score Galati and Bigler. Fitzgerald was nailed at the plate following a good relay from OSU first baseman Natalie Hampton to end the rally.

Galati worked one-two-three innings in the sixth and seventh to preserve the win for the Pride.
