Columbia Regional - 2013 NCAA Division I Softball Championship
Game One: Hofstra (44-11) 2, Oregon State (33-23) 0

HOFSTRA HEAD COACH BILL EDWARDS
Opening Statement.... "First off, we beat a great team today. I have a lot of respect for Oregon State and the Pac-12 Conference, as a whole. It's obviously one of the best conferences in the nation and for Hofstra University to be able to go out there and get a win like that is pretty special. Anytime you have Olivia Galati on the mound, you have a chance to win. It was a great win for our program - a great win for Hofstra."

HOFSTRA SENIOR OF TESSA ZIEMBA
On her recent hot streak...
"My mentality is to get into a hitter's count, find my pitch, swing the bat, drive the ball and score runs. It's been working for me lately."

On senior pitcher Olivia Galati....
"The confidence level we have with Olivia is really, really high. We always feel like we have a chance when we have her on the mound."

HOFSTRA SENIOR P OLIVIA GALATI
On getting stronger as the game went along...
"I do feel like I got better the longer I was out there. Our pitching coach was on me to use my legs more, and once that happened I started to feel a little more comfortable and fluid."

On looking forward to a possible matchup against Missouri....
"I'm excited. A name is a name and a school is a school and as long as we hold ourselves to Hofstra softball standards, I think we'll be okay"

OREGON STATE HEAD COACH LAURA BERG
Opening Statement....
"I don't have a lot to say other than the obvious. In this game you have to do the little things or you don't win. It's plain and simple; we had too many flyballs, too many strike-outs."

On the challenges going forward....
"We have to be less tentative. We don't have time for tentativeness. I don't know what these girls are waiting for. You win or you go home, and our backs are against the wall - we have to play better."

OREGON STATE SENIOR P MARINA DENMORE
On Hofstra's offensive performance....
"I think they did a good job. They put the bat on the ball and had some timely hitting."
