Columbia Regional - 2013 NCAA Division I Softball Championship
Game One: Hofstra (44-11) 2, Oregon State (33-23) 0
· Hofstra secured the first win in the 2013 Columbia Regional, 2-0, over Oregon State. The Pride will play the winner of tonight's Missouri vs. Stony Brook contest.
· Hofstra starter Olivia Galati improved to 38-10 on the year. She also struck out five Oregon State batters to push her season strikeout total to 379. She is nearing 1,400 career K's in her collegiate tenure, finishing today's game with 1,399 career strikeouts.
· Galati pushed her winning streak to 12 consecutive games, which equals the third longest win streak of her career. She won 14 consecutive games in 2010 and won an incredible 32 straight starts last season, which included leading Hofstra to a winner-take-all game at No. 19 South Florida in the 2012 Super Regional in Tampa.
· Hofstra is no stranger to postseason play and the Pride played its 14th game vs. Pac-12 foes in NCAA Tournament action on Friday. Hofstra is now 4-10 all-time vs. the Pac-12 in the NCAA Tournament and before today its most recent game was a 7-2 win at UCLA in 2012.
· Hofstra was a perfect 3-0 at the UCLA Regional last season and has won five of its last six NCAA Regional games dating back to 2010 at Arizona.
· Hofstra secured its 14th consecutive victory this afternoon. The Pride's last loss was the second game of a double-header at George Mason on April 20. Overall the Pride has won 26 of its last 27 games and is 41-3 since March 1.
· Tessa Ziemba recorded the game's biggest offensive play when her one-out double in the bottom of the fifth inning scored two runs to put the Pride up 2-0. The double was Ziemba's 14th of the year and pushed her RBI total to a team-leading 47.
· Oregon State's Christie Langlois had a two-hit game to pace OSU. She entered the game with just three hits in 10 games this season, but had two hits off the Hofstra All-American hurler.
