Seven Tigers Earn Academic Honors

Columbia, Mo. -- Seven Tigers were named to the 2012 Academic All-Big 12 Women's Basketball team as announced by the league office on Tuesday (Feb. 14). Missouri and Texas had seven honorees each, the most in the Big 12 Conference.

Freshmen Morgan Eye and Bree Fowler, sophomore Tori Niemann, junior Liz Smith and senior Bailey Gee were among 27 student-athletes named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team, while Liene Priede and Maggie Flynn were named to the Second Team. The nomination is the second for Gee in her career.

Nominated by each institution's director of student-athlete support services and the media relations offices, the 2012 Academic All-Big 12 Women's Basketball Team consisted of 27 first team members combined with 13 on the second team. First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, and the second team are those who have a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
