AMES, Iowa - The Mizzou track and field team wrapped up the final day of the Bill Bergan Combined Events on Friday (Jab. 27) and sophomore Nic Ford led the way with a fifth-place finish in the men's heptathlon, scoring a two-day total of 5,008 points in the event. On the women's side, Morgan Whitson finished sixth overall with 3,460 points in the pentathlon to lead the way for Mizzou.
Staying in the heptathlon, a pair of Tigers turned in top-10 finishes and improved their standing after day one yesterday. Tim Gillman jumped from 10th in the two-day competition to a seventh-place finish with a score of 4,679 while freshman Ser Whittaker moved from ninth after day one to eighth overall with 4,137 points.
Team captain Kelcy Vanarsdall rounded out the combined event participants as she placed ninth in the pentathlon with 3,320 points overall. The Tigers will open the Bill Bergan Invitational tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. at Leid Recreation Center on the Iowa State Campus.
