Columbia, Mo. - The Tigers will host the Sam Houston State Bearkats (4-5) on Friday, Dec. 30 at Mizzou Arena. The contest will mark the Tigers' (9-1) last game in an eight-game home stretch. Mizzou continues its season on Jan. 4 at Baylor.
LAST TIME OUT
Mizzou hosted the Memphis Tigers before the holidays. The Tigers topped Memphis 58-48 on Dec. 22 at Mizzou Arena. Senior Christine Flores surpassed 1,000 career points in the match, joining 29 other Tigers in the 1,000 point club at Mizzou. Senior BreAnna Brock recorded her third double-double, recording 10 points and 14 rebounds in the contest. Despite being down by one at the half, the Tigers were able to pull ahead in the second half scoring 27 points to Memphis' 16. Besides the Tigers' loss to Northwestern, Mizzou has yet to be outscored in the second half.
UP NEXT
Friday's game against Sam Houston State (Dec. 30) marks the Tigers' last in an eight-game home stretch. Mizzou will open up conference play at Baylor on Jan. 4. Moving further into Conference play, the Tigers host Texas Tech on Jan. 7 before heading to Manhattan, Kan. to face Kansas State on Jan. 11.
SCOUTING SAM HOUSTON STATE
Sam Houston State comes to Mizzou Arenaoff of a loss to the Tigers' conference rival Kansas. The Bearkats were able to score 23 points off of KU's 23 turnovers, but it wasn't enough to hold the Jayhawks. Currently, Sam Houston is 4-5 on the season, with wins coming over UT-Tyler, Mary Hardin-Baylor, UT-Pan American, and South Alabama. Sequeena Thomas leads the Bearkats, averaging 15.8 points per game. She also leads the team with an average of 10 rebounds per game and a .333 3-point shooting percentage.
FATHER-DAUGHTER DAY
Missouri's game against Sam Houston State will stand as Father-Daughter Day. Any youth aged 18 and under will receive free admission when accompanied by an adult who purchases a ticket.
SERIES HISTORY WITH SAM HOUSTON
Mizzou is 1-0 against Sam Houston State in program history. The Tigers and the Bearkats last met in 1995 in the Mid-America Classic. Mizzou won the game 77-66.
SOUTHLAND CONFERENCE HISTORY
The Tigers lead the series 13-7 against Southland Conference opponents in program history. The Tigers are undefeated against several Southland opponents including Lamar, McNeese State, Nicholls State, Sam Houston State, Southeastern Lousiana, Texas-San Antonio, Texas A&M-CC and Texas State.
350 HOME WINS FOR THE TIGERS
The Missouri Women's Basketball program earned its 350th all-time home win in the victory over Memphis on Dec. 22. The Tigers topped the Bearkats 58-48 in a close contest.
MILLENNIUM MILESTONE
Senior Christine Flores has reached the 1,000 career point mark, earning her 1,000th point against Memphis on Dec. 22. Flores now has 1,015 points in her career, making her the 30th member of the 1,000 point club. Flores is on pace to surpass several Tigers this season and could move into the top 20 all-time scorers at Mizzou.
