Opening statement...
"There were a lot of positives. We had some young players out on the court tonight and some inexperienced players. I'm really pleased with our second half effort. We have a lot of work to do and the girls know it. And that's the thing, consistently...they bring to the table every day: how coachable they are, how hungry they are, their work ethic every day in practice. No doubt about it, this is a group that is truly willing to roll up their sleeves and go to work and do what they need to do. I think that to have the lights on and be in a game situation was really beneficial for us, and now we can break down game film and go back to work tomorrow in practice. There are certainly a lot of positives and I saw a lot of different players play, some that saw limited minutes last year and some that are new to the program. All in all I was really pleased with what I saw, but I'm still a long way from being satisfied."
On team scoring...
"I think that's just the kind of team we have, we all know how tough of a league it is, just this level, we can't just have one or two players put the team on their shoulders. We're not at that point right now, and we've got to have a lot of players that are willing to step up and knock down shots for us, be an offensive threat and that's the kind of team we have. We talked about this a lot in shoot-around, this is how it should be, but we're finally at the point where we are making a lot more shots than we're missing. That's good to see because you're not being guarded so you should make more shots, but that wasn't always the case last year. We're getting there, I think we've got some pieces to the puzzle. They're a nice addition, we have a lot of players that can knock down those shots, but we've got an awful lot of work to do."
On sub patterns...
"I think it's early, it's a work in progress, we're not set on any rotation or starting lineup by any stretch of the imagination. We've got another week and a half and hopefully a week from today with our next exhibition we will be a little bit more solid with that. I think with exhibition games you certainly want to let everybody get out there and kind of get their feet wet. So that's still a work in progress."
On the newcomers...
I think we saw that they're going to be able to help us, they did a lot of really nice things for us, (Priede) has got a sweet pull up jump shot, she handles it well, she's got great court vision. Defensively, we have to get better with some things with her. She has a tendency to lunge a little bit, reach a little bit. I think that communication on the switching action is concerning to me."
"Bree Fowler did a tremendous job tonight, especially coming out of the gates in the second half, her ability to knock down outside shots, I think she plays with a lot of poise. She doesn't really play like a freshman out there as far as her court demeanor. Again, she does a tremendous job feeding the post, she can guard hard, I think she takes pride in her defense."
"And Kyley Simmons, I don't know how many minutes she logged tonight, but I think a lot of what we've talked about is that she plays big. She does a tremendous job of running the offense and she can guard hard. She can really get our transition going north and south. There are a lot of positives from all of them."
"Liz Smith came in and did a really nice job for us. She is a big, strong post on the inside. Do what you do and what she does is bang inside and finish her shots."
"And then we've got Morgan Eye. I thought she played a really nice four game for us. Maybe she didn't show up statistically, but you saw a deep three there at the end of the game, and that's something that she knocks down consistently as well as anybody on the team in practice, she's got a few more things to work on defensively. Overall for being so young and new players to the program, I thought there were a lot of positives."
On playing for Mizzou, being from Missouri...
"It was very exciting, I had a large fan base and I was so excited because I got to be with my team, obviously, and they're my family so it was awesome to be all together and have people watching me play and I was just having fun."
On the offense and inside game...
"At first they were doubling us really hard. If we get it in and kick it back out and hit our shots outside that's really going to help us. The fact that we have players that can knock down those shots and that are confident, and the inside people are confident to get it out to our outside shooters. I'm confident that anyone of my outside players, our guards, can hit the three if I need them to, or if anybody needs them to at that. Everybody having confidence in themselves and in each other has gone a long way for us."
