Men Complete Day 1 of Southwest Plunge

Columbia, Mo. - The men's swimming and diving team faced their first Big 12 competition of the season, squaring off against Texas and Texas A&M, as well as SMU in the first day of the annual Southwest Plunge.

The Tiger's got off to a great start with Eegan Groom placing first in the 500 yard freestyle, recording a time of 4:26.34. While competing in the 100 yard butterfly, Neil O'Halloran placed third with a time of 49.37.

In the 200 IM, tiger Yaniv Shnaider placed third with a time of 1:52.88, while Igor Kozlovskij recorded a time of 1:52.95. Kozlovskij also placed third in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 56.48.

John Higgins and Ryan Sellers placed back to back in the men's 200 yard backstroke, taking the third and fourth spot respectively. Higgins logged a time of 1:51.57, while Sellers had a time of 1:52.60. Adam Abernathy also recorded an impressive time of 1:50.46 in the men's 200 yard backstroke.

Day two of the Southwest Plunge will begin Saturday, October 29th in Mansfield, TX.
