COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri wrestling team, featuring head coach Brian Smith, will host a camp down in Shalimar, Fla., next week. The camp will begin on Tuesday, July 27 and run through Thursday, July 29, and will be held at Meigs Middle School.

Attendees will spend the three days learning the Tiger Style system, an aggressive style of wrestling developed to score points through chain wrestling, from all three positions, for the entire match. Campers will learn techniques and drills during the 9-11 a.m. session and 1-2:30 p.m. session. Motivational talks will be held after lunch from 12:30-1 p.m., and each day of camp will close with a live wrestling session from 2:30-3 p.m.

Those who wish to attend can register online at www.tigerstylewrestling.com for $65 or can register at the door for $85. Those who register online do not need to check in until 9 a.m. on July 27 and will receive a free Tiger Style Camp t-shirt. For those who plan on registering at the door, they must arrive at the Meigs Middle School gymnasium by 8:30 a.m. on July 27. For more information, call 573-639-0922.

Since taking over the program in 1998, Coach Smith has continued to bring the Tiger program to an elite level. With 10 straight seasons with a dual record at or above .500, Smith has produced 15 All-Americans to 27 top-eight finishes to go with three grapplers winning four NCAA titles. In the past six seasons, seven Tigers have collected 11 Big 12 titles, and the program sent a school-record nine wrestlers to the NCAA Championships in 2011. On Dec. 12, 2006, the Missouri wrestling team became just the 11th wrestling program in history to earn a No. 1 ranking. With a 159-80-2 record at Mizzou, Smith is the program's all-time winningest coach.
