STILLWATER, Okla. - The Mizzou cross country team got strong performances from both Bailey Belvis (Prosper, Texas) and Max Storms (Kansas City, Mo.) as both the men's and women's teams finished 11th overall at the Big 12 Championships at the Oklahoma State Cross Country Course on Saturday (Oct. 30). The women finished with 271 points while the men, despite running only five athletes, compiled 320 points. Belvis finished 31st overall in the 6K trek with a time of21:30.76 while Storms placed 39th with an 8K time of 25:26.49.

Mizzou ran without arguably its top runners on both the men's and women's side as Kaitie Vanatta (Littleton, Colo.) and Kevin McKee (Kansas City, Mo.) were held out of the competition.

Aside from Belvis, the Tiger women also got great performances from senior Kinsey Farren (Dallas, Texas), who placed 43rd overall with a time of 21:44.99, and Laura Roxberg (Overland Park, Kan.), who finished 56th overall after clocking a 6K time of 22:01.26. Farren's 43rd-place finish is her best at the Big 12 Championships since her freshman year when she placed 26th overall. Roxberg's finish is also an improvement from her performance at last year's championship when she placed 62nd overall.

Freshman Marie O'Leary (Normal, Ill.) placed 70th overall for the Tiger women while junior Aimee Bonte (Fenton, Mo,) was just behind her in 75th overall.

Although Storms was the top finisher for the Tiger men, Mizzou also got a good performance from Hayden Legg (Mexico, Mo.), who placed 60th overall with a time of 26:09.71. Junior middle distance standout Aaron Dixon (Lee's Summit, Mo.) placed 81st overall while Pat Donnelly (Pittsburgh, Pa.) finished 85th with time of 27:02.49 and 27:05.90, respectively. Blake Irwin (Bettendorf, Iowa) was the only other Tiger to run as he placed 96th overall with a time of 29:54.41.

Oklahoma State won the men's team championship while Texas Tech claimed the women's team title. Mizzou will be back in action at the NCAA Midwest Regional on Nov. 13 in Peoria, Ill. For all the latest on Mizzou cross country, stay tuned to MUTigers.com.
