Hey Tiger Fans!
We just had our meet against OU last Friday, and even though we didn't win, we were very proud of how we performed and had a lot of fun! It was nice to have a home meet again after our crazy travel schedule the previous weekend. Since our meet against Centenary was rescheduled to Sunday, our training schedule was different than normal. We only had two days of practice in the gym instead of three, so we all worked extra hard. On Thursday we practiced downstairs in the arena like we always do the day before a home meet.
On Friday, we were all very excited to compete against the number two ranked team! As we started on vault, everyone contributed huge vaults, and it showed by our team score of 49.15 (the second highest of the season)! Congrats to D for competing her front handspring pike half for the first time. Bars was a little shaky as we had a couple fluke mistakes on board mounts, but the bar team recovered very well and we finished strong. Next up was beam. Despite the mishaps on bars, the beam team had a solid rotation and we moved on to floor. We finished strong on floor and everyone had great routines. Congrats to Brittany for scoring a 9.825 for her first time in the floor lineup and to Shi for scoring her career high all-around score of 39.625!!
Overall, we were very happy with how we did, and we had a lot of fun competing! This week in the gym, one of our major goals is to practice sticking landings. We are working very hard and can't wait for our next home meet this weekend against Illinois State. Hope to see everyone there! GO TIGERS!
