
Tigers Take Championship at Chip-N-Club Invite

LINCOLN, Neb. - The Mizzou Women's Golf team picked up its first tournament title since the fall of 2007 as it won the season-opening Chip-N-Club Invitational in Lincoln, Neb. The Tigers carded their best round of the tournament in Tuesday's final round with a 288. That followed score of 299 and 291 in the first two rounds, giving them a total of 878, which was 11 shots ahead of second-place Nebraska.
Missouri's three-round total of 878 was the third lowest in school history and the round of 288 on Tuesday was the fifth best single-round score ever at MU.
Three Tigers tied for fourth place to lead Mizzou in the individual standings. Seniors Julia Potter and Michelle Morgan and freshman Ahnna Kim all finished with 54-hole totals of 217. Potter and Kim each carded rounds of two-under-par 70 in Tuesday's final round, while Morgan shot a 73.
Junior Nicola Race turned in a 75 on Tuesday and finished in a tie for 22nd place with a 227 score, while sophomore Hannah Lovelock tied for 30th place with a three-round total of 230.
Junior Lindsey Haupt competed as an individual in the Chip-N-Club Invitational and finished in a tie for 52nd spot with a 239 score.
Prior to this, the last tournament championship for Mizzou came in October of 2007, when it claimed the Johnie Imes Invitational. The title is the 21st in school history and the ninth for the Tigers since Head Coach Stephanie Priesmeyer took over the program in 2001.
Next for the Tigers is the Napa River Grill Invitational in Louisville, Ky. on Sept. 21-22.
