Tigers Give Billikens A Beating

Columbia, Mo. – The Missouri Tigers (1-2) headed to Saint Louis, Mo., for a match-up with the Billikens (0-1) of Saint Louis University. After taking the doubles point five Tigers earned singles victories to give MU the 6-1 victory. Play began at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday (Jan. 31) evening.
Sofia Ayala and Danielle Day continued their dominance in doubles as they took down Sarah Septien and Kasia Tomalak, 8-3. The duo is undefeated after three dual matches this spring season. At No. 3 senior Jessica Giuggioli and sophomore Kaitlyn Ritchie also won , 8-1, sealing the doubles point for the Tigers.
Five ladies took home singles victories for Mizzou with Giuggioli leading the way at the No. 1 spot. After a tie-breaking set Giuggioli took home a win over Hailee Elmore, 3-6, 6-4, (10-6). Matches at No. 2 through No. 5 were all decided in two sets with Missouri on top of each. The Billikens earned their lone point of the night as Tomalak edged Ayala in a tie-breaking third set at No. 6.
The Tigers will take a week off before heading down to Texas for a pair of match-ups with Stephen F. Austin and Southern Methodist University on Saturday, Feb. 14.
