FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Although Friday marked the end of the 2009 outdoor season for Missouri Track and Field, the Tigers finished the season with two more All-Americans in Chris Rohr and Krishna Lee despite more weather issues pushing back the start of the NCAA Outdoor Championships well past the 11 a.m. start time.
The rain pushed back the start to the field events to 3 p.m., as Krishna Lee was first up for the Tigers in the women's hammer. Her first throw of 206 feet, seven inches was a solid start and would be her best throw of the finals, placing her fifth overall, the highest finisher among other Big 12 competitors. This is also Lee's third All-American honor and first in outdoor track and field.
More than five hours after the men's hammer should have started, Rohr took to the throwing cages next and of his three throws over 65 meters, his fourth attempt would be the clincher, throwing 226 feet six inches (69.03 meters) placing him in fourth for his sixth All-American title.
Brian Hancock came up just short in his bid for an All-American selection, placing 11th clearing the opening height of 16 feet, 8.75 inches (5.10 meters) while Kaela Rorvig fought hard in the final three events of the Heptathlon and finished 20th overall with 4997 points over the two day event.
