Columbia, Mo. - Leo Lyons hit 6-of-11 shots and netted a team-high 15 points, but it wasn't enough to lead his team to victory in the opening round of action at the Portsmouth Invitational.
Lyons' Portsmouth Sports Club fell to the Norfolk Naval Shipyard 89-65 on Thursday, as the Shipyard was led by Xavier's B.J. Raymond, who connected on 4-of-5 three-pointers en route to a game-high 19 points.
Lyons was the lone player on his team to hit better than 50 percent of his shots from the floor as the Portsmouth Sports Club shot just 36.5 percent for the game and just 27.8 percent from three-point range.
Lyons returns to action this afternoon at 2:15 p.m. CT against the Norfolk Sports club and DeMarre Carroll's club squares off Friday night vs. Sales Systems, Ltd at 6 p.m.
