Hey Tiger fans. This weekend we wrestled the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The match didn't quite end up how we wanted it to, as we lost to them by a very disappointing one point.
Although the dual had a bad end result, there were a few positives that we can takes from it. Stepping in for Mark Ellis, freshman Dom Bradley beat a top 15 ranked Husker in Tucker Lane. Dom secured a first period takedown and basically shut down his heavyweight opponent the rest of the match. This match really set the tone for the rest of the team and we built momentum going into the match at 125.
Freshman Troy Dolan came up with a very big win at 125 against a tough conference opponent. Troy racked up about four and a half minutes of riding time in the match and controlled every second. Troy is really coming into his own as the season is progressing and he is just in time for the heavy part of the season, as we have a few important duals coming up before Big 12's and Nationals.
Senior Raymond Jordan also came through with a big win for us at 174. He beat No. 2 ranked Brandon Browne in a very dominating fashion. The score does not show the dominance, but if you were there, you will agree that Raymond controlled the whole match.
Nick Marable also beat a Husker ranked in the top five. He put on a great show with two or three very powerful takedowns on Stephen Dwyer who I believe is a returning All-American.
The match was a very exciting one against a very tough team. This is one of those duals that could go either way on any given day. Although we lost, looking back I am very pleased with the way most of the guys performed. The main thing to take from the dual is that our team is improving every week. These next few weeks before Big 12's will be some exciting ones. Be sure to come out and watch us February 13 for "The Beauty and the Beast" night in which we will wrestle Central Michigan at the same time the Mizzou Gymnastics team will compete. The Hearnes Center should be packed, so the house should be rocking. Thanks for all of the support. Have a great day!!
