COLUMBIA, Mo. - The 2009-10 tryout information is now available!! All prospective dancers must be accepted by the University of Missouri PRIOR to auditions. You must be a full time student at Mizzou to be a Golden Girl. The tryout application deadline is April 1st, 2009.
Due to the high volume of e-mails and requests for personal visits I have established pre-tryout clinics consisting of a question and answer session at the end of each clinic. At that time we will discuss the tryout procedure and attire, practice and time commitment, competition...and anything else you need to know regarding the Golden Girls and the University of Missouri. There is a $10.00 fee for each session.
Clinic sessions last approximately two hours and are designed to inform you about the tryout process and the Golden Girls. Underclassman are welcome to attend, but anyone interested in auditioning for the upcoming school year MUST ATTEND AT LEAST ONE CLINIC! You are encouraged to attend as many sessions as possible to better prepare you for auditions. Clinics are open to participants only! Spectators are not allowed.
In regards to scholarship information, a small book stipend may be available, based on course schedule. Details will be given at the clinics.
Any student wanting to audition MUST BE PRESENT AT AUDITIONS, as well as a mandatory meeting on Sunday, April 26th. Video tapes will not be accepted. The only exception to this rule will be a conflict with prom on Friday night only. Those dancers must get prior approval to send in a video for their preliminary score. The videotape deadline will be April 1st, 2009.
All choreography will be taught during tryouts so it's impossible to narrow down any specific skill(s) to work on. You will however be given an idea of what you can expect at the clinic sessions. In the meantime, practice straight-arm pom, all technical skills including leaps and turns, and work on your flexibility.

All clinics will be held at the Mizzou Arena practice gym located at 1 Champions Drive. For the Feb. 16 and March 30 dates, as well as the April 23rd clinic and April 24-25 tryout dates, please enter through the south doors (back) of the building and follow the signs. For the April 13th clinic, please instead enter through the MISSOURI BASKETBALL doors on the west side of the north entrance to the arena.
Directions:
From Kansas City - I-70, Exit Stadium Drive and turn right (south), turn right on Mick Deaver Drive (between Faurot Field and the Hearnes Center), stay straight to Mizzou Arena
From St. Louis - I-70, Exit Hwy 63 South, exit Stadium Drive and turn right, turn left on Mick Deaver Drive (between the Hearnes Center and Faurot Field) stay straight to Mizzou Arena
Further specific information will be given at the clinic sessions. All questions will be addressed at that time.
