Tigers Split With Golden Knights And The South

Fort Myers, FLA. After three days of tennis in sunny Fla. the Tiger ladies will head home carrying six team victories with them on the young spring season. Missouri finished the event Sunday (Jan. 18) morning at 9:00 a.m. EST with singles competition against the University of Central Florida. The women split victories with the Golden Knights finishing 3-3 before jumping on a plane back to Columbia.

With senior Jessica Giuggioli taking the day off sophomore Mallory Weber played her first match at No. 1 this season. In the top spot for MU Weber defeated UCF No. 1 Andrea Yacaman who is currently ranked No. 70 nationally. Missouri's two freshman both earned singles victories on the day. The Florida-natives Jamie Mera and Danielle Day each came away with a win at the No. 3 and No. 5 spots, respectively.

The Tigers will be back in action on Friday (Jan. 23) where they will travel to Big Ten country in a match-up with Purdue before battling Ohio State on Saturday (Jan. 24). Missouri will host its first home match the following week on Saturday (Jan. 31) against Southeast Missouri in the Green Tennis Center.
