Sea World Trip Caps Friday at the Alamo

Dec. 26, 2008

SAN ANTONIO – The Tigers had a busy day on Friday in the Alamo City, as they continued preparations for the Valero Alamo Bowl.

Mizzou held a two-hour practice in the morning at Alamo Heights High School.  The veterans worked out in shorts and shoulder pads, while the youngsters donned full pads, as those who haven't played in 2008 held a brief full-contact scrimmage after practice that's become known as the “Future Bowl” over the years.

Without full contact taking place during practice, there really weren't many details to report, other than the team continued to draw good reviews from Head Coach Gary Pinkel with their efforts.

Senior safety William Moore practiced on Friday without a red injury bib, meaning he's hopefully getting closer to being 100 percent for his final game as a Tiger.  No other injury news to report from camp, as all other Tigers are in good shape.

The Future Bowl was dominated by the defense, with most of the plays by the offense being short gainers on screens and swing passes.  Safety Kip Edwards made several nice stops on the edge, while tackle Jimmy Burge got through the line for a QB sack, and on offense, TB Drew Temple had a couple of shifty moves to get some yards for his team.

Following practice, the team made a trip for the afternoon to Sea World, where they enjoyed the sights and attractions for several hours before returning to the hotel for some free time Friday evening.  At Sea World, most of the team got a kick out of riding the various roller coasters and water rides, while also taking in the shows featuring whales, manatees and dolphins.  One Tiger in particular, senior WR Tommy Saunders, made a killing playing basketball shooting carnival games, and walked out of the complex with three different stuffed animals that were actually bigger than him!

The Tigers return to the practice field Saturday morning for their final workout of the 2008 season, as Sunday will entail a walk-through at the Alamodome, followed by the game against Northwestern Monday evening at 7 p.m. (central time).  Stay tuned to www.mutigers.com for continuing updates.
