Columbia, Mo. -The Missouri softball team blanked Three Rivers Community College, 7-0, in the first of two games played on University Field. The fifth of Missouri's six fall games, Tiger pitcher Chelsea Thomas (Pleasantville, Iowa) was credited with the win after striking out six batters and allowing only one hit in four innings of work. Junior left-handed hurler Jana Hainey (Raymore, Mo.) entered in the fifth and finished out the game throwing four strikeouts and allowing only one hit.
Missouri was first on the board, with shortstop junior Gina Schneider (Liberty, Mo.) scoring on senior third baseman Lindsey Ubrun's (Riverside, Calif.) two-out single to center field in the bottom of the fourth. Schneider reached base on a fielder's choice earlier in the inning.
The Tigers tacked on three runs in the bottom of the fifth and three in the bottom of the seventh to collect their fifth win of the fall. Missouri was held to only five hits in the game, with sophomore Marla Schweisberger credited with two base knocks and an RBI. Missouri capitalized on five errors by the Three River's defense.
The final game of the fall season will begin at 2 p.m. (CT) against instate foe Johnson County Community College.
