
Texas Posts 67-37 Win Over Mizzou

AUSTIN, Texas - The University of Missouri women's basketball team suffered a 67-37 loss to Texas on Saturday afternoon in Austin, Texas at the Frank Erwin Center. Texas improves to 15-5 overall and 3-3 in Big 12 play while Mizzou falls to 8-11 and 1-5.
After the Longhorns scored the first five points of the game, Mizzou went on a 7-2 run to tie it up at 7-7 when sophomore Jessra Johnson knocked in a three with 16:36 left in the first. The Tigers stayed within striking distance when junior Alyssa Hollins sank 3-pointers at 9:54 and 7:21 to keep Missouri within three, 17-14 and 20-17, respectively.
Texas responded with a 12-3 run, including eight points from Ashley Lindsey, over the final 7:21 of the first frame to enter the half on top 32-20.
The Longhorns opened the second half with eight consecutive points to build a 40-20 advantage with 16:53 on the clock. After Hollins hit a jumper to end the Texas run, the Longhorns proved too much as they outscored the Tigers 35-17 in the second half.
The Tigers were led by Hollins, who scored 12 points.
Lindsey led Texas with 14 points and Brittainey Raven scored 13.
The Tigers return to Texas on Tuesday, Jan. 26 for a 7 p.m. contest with Texas A&M in College Station before hosting Nebraska on Sunday, Feb. 3 at 3 p.m. at Mizzou Arena. The game with the Cornhuskers will be televised on Fox Sports.
