Albuquerque, N.M. -Playing the first game of the inaugural Lobo Invitational, the Missouri softball team improved to 7-4 on the season after holding off Wichita State, 2-0 on Lobo Field. The Tigers managed four hits on the day and junior Stacy Delaney (Freeland, Mich.) moved to 3-2 on the campaign.

For the fifth game of the season, the Tigers were first to put a run on the board, doing so in the top of the first inning. Senior Jen Bruck (St. Peters, Mo.) drew four balls to reach first and scored on junior shortstop Lindsey Ubrun's (Riverside, Calif.) dropped fly ball to right field. The error by Shocker right fielder Kiersten Dixon sent Bruck running from first and credited Bruck with her fourth run of the season.

Missouri tacked on one run in the sixth frame when freshman right fielder Kathryn Poet (Tujunga, Calif.) scored on a throwing error by pitcher Ashly Bright. With two outs on the board, freshman Rhea Taylor (Buford, Ga.) was out on a fielder's choice that left Poet safe at second and Bruck was out on a fly ball to right field, Ubrun reached base on balls sending Poet to second. Both runners advanced on sophomore pinch hitter Meredith Nash's (Peculiar, Mo.) hit back to Bright, which was misplayed and overthrown to first baseman Jamie Stanclift.

Delaney threw a complete game forcing 10 groundouts, six fly outs and six strikeouts.

The Tigers will face their third ranked opponent of the season when they take on No. 22 Washington beginning at 6:30 p.m. (CT). Live video and audio will be provided through www.mutigers.com.
