COLUMBIA, Mo. - This past weekend held several highlights for the Missouri Track & Field teams that concluded competition at the Iowa State Classic late Saturday. Among the Tiger successes was senior Trisa Nickoley's (Tecumseh, Kan.) winning run at 800 meters. In clocking a career-best 2 minutes, 5.27 seconds Nickoley placed herself in the NCAA's top five this season.
Nickoley bested Florida's Lorain McKenzie (2:06.00) who was sitting a spot above Nickoley on the national list entering the weekend.
Freshman Layne Moore (Emporia, Kan.) placed second at 600 yards, clocking 1:22.94, the fastest time by a Tiger since 1993. Sophomore Blossom Nwaneri (Kansas City, Mo.) was fourth in improving her personal best by three seconds to run in 1:23.63.
Emily Baker (Wildwood, Mo.) continued to add to her resume in the mile. The sophomore ran 4:50.76 for a three-second all-time PR, a time that also places her just outside Mizzou's all-time top 10 in the event.
Senior Kate Greer (Marshalltown, Iowa) shaved 25 seconds off her indoor PR at 5000 meters to place ninth at 17:12.27.
In the women's weight throw, junior Krishna Lee (Kansas City, Mo.) added to her personal best and NCAA-provisional qualifying mark in throwing 63 feet, 10¼ inches (19.46m) to take seventh. Senior Shernelle Nicholls joined Lee in having NCAA marks in both the shot and the weight in throwing a four-foot PR with a throw of 63-7 (19.38m) for eighth.
