This past weekend was an exciting time for the Tiger gymnastics team. We hosted the Iowa State Cyclones for our "Pink Out" meet, which was the first home competition of the year. Besides having an impressive audience of 2,766 , we completed our goal of beating the Big 12 rival 194.125-192.4.
Warm- Ups started off really well, and all of us were excited to pull through as a team and show the Cyclones who would come out on top. The first competitive event was Vault, which was led with an impressive 9.9 from Sarah Shire. The team had great confidence coming off our strong event leading into bars. In practice the previous week, we all concentrated on fixing the little things ( landings and cast handstands on bars) that would increase our scores easily . Although our bar rotation was a little shaky, we showed a great effort on attacking our cast handstands and stuck landings. Putting a great finish on our second rotation gave us confidence to hit the next two events. Going into beam and floor we wanted to show the audience all the hard work we have been putting into our routines. Our dance and presentation has increased tremendously from Bowling Green, and everyone seemed to exuberate confidence with each skill they performed. It was exciting to see all of the hard work paying off.
Pink Out was a great success, but was just the start to a bigger and better season. We are all excited to make a lasting impression in the gymnastics community, and it will start with a great meet this weekend at Nebraska.
Go Tigers :D
