
Mizzou's Carlynn Savant Named Academic All-District

Missouri women's basketball forward Carlynn Savant (Euless, Texas) has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VII University Division Second Team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.
Savant is a senior co-captain who has averaged 11.4 points and 7.5 rebounds this season for the Tigers. She currently ranks third in the nation with a .916 free throw percentage. She is second on the team with 35 3-pointers and is third in the Big 12 with a 42.2 3-point field goal percentage.
Her career free throw percentage of .836 is on pace to set a new Mizzou record, while her 135 3-pointers made sit just five shy of tying the all-time mark of 140.
Savant received her undergraduate degree in psychology in three years with a 3.45 grade point average and recently completed her first semester of graduate school with a 4.00 gpa in her coursework requirements towards a master's in Educational Counseling Psychology.
Savant is the third player to earn Academic All-District honors since Head Coach Cindy Stein arrived in Columbia in 1998. She has been named First Team Academic All-Big 12 each of the last two seasons.
The University Division of District VII is comprised of Division I schools in the states of Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming.
To be eligible, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve, they must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 in both undergrad and graduate work, must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their institution and must have completed at least one academic year at your institution.
Missouri (14-9, 2-8 Big 12) will return to action on Saturday at 6 p.m. when it plays host to Oklahoma State (16-7, 4-6) at Mizzou Arena. The game follows the MU-Kansas men's game at 2:30 p.m.
