Men's Basketball Game Notes, November 8, 2007

After being held scoreless for nearly the first three minutes of the game, Missouri unleashed their offensive attack going on an 18-4 run in 5:30...the Tigers scored 64 points in the first half, which ending the game with 113.

Missouri Western committed 10 team fouls just 8:04 into the game, and 19 for the first half, giving the Tigers plenty of free throw opportunities...Missouri shot 18-27 (66.7%) from the charity stripe in the first half...Missouri ended the game 22-32 (69%).

Missouri only shot 29% from three-point land in the team's first exhibition game vs. UMSL, but the Tigers started off well converting four of the first eight three-point shots...the Tigers finished the game shooting 11-26 (42%) from downtown.

Missouri had no trouble finding each other amassing 17 assists in the first half, which almost matched their total vs. UMSL (19)...the Tigers finished the night with 28 assists.

Missouri played physical underneath the glass outscoring Missouri Western in the paint 32-7 while out-rebounding Missouri Western 23-13 in the first half...the Tigers finished the night outscoring the Griffons in the paint 46-25 while out-rebounding them 41-38.

Missouri's defense was tough forcing 33 Missouri Western turnovers; they stole the ball 21 times, while scoring 35 points off of Griffon turnovers and held Missouri Western shooting to 18-58 (31%).

Missouri displayed efficient ball-handling discipline by turning the ball over only 11 times.

Missouri was able to get every player in the game and all-13 players finished with at least three points.

Individual Notes

Darryl Butterfield saw his first action this year...the senior forward finished the night with 8 points shooting 3-4 from the field.

Sophomore guard Keon Lawrence made an immediate impact coming off the bench for the Tigers tonight with 15 points, 9 rebounds, and 9 assists.

Junior forward DeMarre Carroll was perfect from the field tonight shooting 5-5; Carroll had 15 points and 5 rebounds.

Along with his big alley oop, freshman forward Justin Safford had a nice game finishing the evening with 10 points and 4 rebounds.
