Chase Daniel Named Davey O'Brien Finalist

Nov. 20, 2007

Fort Worth, Texas - University of Missouri junior quarterback Chase Daniel has been named as one of three finalists for the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award (The O'Brien), as announced by the Davey O'Brien Foundation.  Daniel is joined by Oregon senior Dennis Dixon and Florida sophomore Tim Tebow as a finalist.

Daniel and the Tigers are currently 10-1 and ranked a program-best fourth in the latest BCS standings.  The Southlake, Texas, native is a major reason why the Tigers are one of the top teams in the land, as he ranks among the top-10 of NCAA statistical rankings in eight different categories, including six different top-five showings.  Among those include touchdown passes (3rd - 30), total offense (4th - 349.27 ypg), pass completions (4th - 28.09 cpg), passing yards per game (5th - 326.36 ypg), completion percentage (5th - 69.3%), passing yards (5th - 3,590), points responsible for (7th - 18.36 ppg) and pass efficiency (9th - 155.06 rating).  Additionally, Daniel is directing a Tiger squad that has been as consistently good as any offense in the country in 2007, as MU is the only school in the nation to score at least 30 points in every game this year.

Tiger fans can help their favorite quarterback win the award, as a combination of votes from the O'Brien Selection Committee and from an online Fan Vote will determine the winner.  Fan voting will count toward five percent of the total voting.  Online voting is open until balloting closes at Noon (central) on Sunday, Dec. 2nd.  Fans can place their online votes once daily by visiting the O'Brien website at www.DaveyOBrien.com.

Daniel and the other two finalists will be in attendance in Orlando, Fla., for the Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards Show, Dec. 6th.
