Nov. 15, 2007

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Missouri women's swimming and diving team (7-1, 1-1 Big 12) earned its best ranking in program history, Thursday with its No. 18 ranking in the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Top 25 Poll. The Tigers were ranked No. 20 in the previous poll.

"The girls are very excited headed into the Purdue Invite," said junior co-captain Lori Halvorson. "I think the ranking will help us swim some big swims, especially because we're facing several strong teams. I think it has really pumped us up for this weekend."

After the women completed their second consecutive sweep at the Mizzou Dual Challenge earlier this month, they return to action Friday in this weekend's Purdue Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind. Friday's prelim action kicks off at 10 a.m. with finals set to begin at 6 p.m. at the Boilermakers' Holloway Pool.
