COLUMBIA, Mo. - Terrell Owens of the Dallas Cowboys may have said (or wrote), "Getcha popcorn ready," about his upcoming football game with the New England Patriots, but, really, he was talking about the upcoming week for Missouri volleyball. The Tigers (12-6, 5-4 Big 12) have won five straight and are (scarlet, not red) hot heading into a gauntlet of home matches that includes No. 1 Nebraska and No. 7 Texas as opponents. Wednesday will be "Can the Huskers Night III" in the Hearnes Center as all will get admission to the 6:30 p.m., first serve by donating at least two canned goods at the gate to the Central Missouri Food Bank.
Over 6,000 attended the Tigers' previous two home meetings with Nebraska.
Saturday's homecoming activities will also lead to another festive day that includes Mizzou volleyball. The Tigers will face No. 7 Texas starting at 6:30 p.m., or one hour following the Mizzou-Texas Tech football game, whichever is later. The Longhorns are winless at the Hearnes Center in its last seven tries and were frustrated and upset by the Tigers in Columbia last season, losing its No. 5 ranking in a sweep, consequently happening also on a football Saturday last season. Patrons will get into the Tiger volleyball match for free with a ticket stub from the football game.
The Tigers with their recent upward progression have entered into a tie for fifth place in the Big 12 with Iowa State and garner the conference's third-longest winning streak.
