Mizzou Basketball Programs Announce Oct. 12 Mizzou Madness

Sept. 17, 2007

Columbia, Mo. - College basketball season is on the horizon and to help Mizzou fans usher in the 2007-08 campaign, head coaches Mike Anderson and Cindy Stein have announced that their programs will host Mizzou Madness on Oct. 12 inside Mizzou Arena.

Just one month away, Mizzou Madness is a Midnight Madness-style event that is scheduled immediately following the annual Rock Bridge-Hickman football game at 9 p.m. Admission (and parking) to Mizzou Madness is free to the general public, but the University of Missouri Department of Athletics is teaming up with the Central Missouri Food Bank and asks fans to donate one canned (food) item per person upon entry. Collection bins will be available at the gates.

"Mizzou Madness is a great way to officially open up the season and it's an event our players really enjoy," Anderson said. "Even more than the basketball, our guys really look forward to the fan interaction that an event like Mizzou Madness provides. It's a lot of fun for everyone involved and the proceeds go to a great cause that supports our neighbors here in Mid-Missouri."

In addition to games, contests and scrimmaging, both teams will be available for autographs and pictures prior to the start of the event.

"We are looking forward to this opportunity to showcase our team and talent, to get the community and fans involved and have a great time," Stein said. "It is always a special time when you can also embrace a great cause that means so much to so many people."
