INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Six current Mizzou swimmers are scheduled to compete at the ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships, July 31-Aug. 4, at the Indiana University Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI.
The Tigers will face an elite field in Indianapolis, including an array of Olympians and world-record holders. Yet there is no doubt the Tigers have prepared accordingly and are ready to compete this week.
"These athletes have trained well this summer and are ready to go," said Missouri Head Coach Brian Hoffer. "There will be over 1000 athletes at the national championships and we are pleased to have a good representation for Mizzou Swim Team."
"The athletes will have to swim very fast in the morning if they want a chance to make it back into the finals," added Hoffer.
Senior standout Bennett Clark will be competing in three events this week, including the 50 and 100 free and the 100 fly. He will be joined on the men's side by junior Bryan Difford, who will be displaying his versatility in the 200 IM.
Jill Granger is slated to race in four events in Indianapolis, including the 400, 800 and 1500 free and the 400 IM. Alongside Granger in the 400 and 1500 free will be sophomore sensation Colleen Gordon, who is also set to compete in the 100 fly.
Junior Lori Halvorson will be in action this week as well in the 200 free, 200 back and 200 IM. Teammate Jill Bastien, who will compete in the 100 and 200 breast, rounds out the slate of Tiger swimmers.
The women will also take to the pool in the 400 free, 400 medley and 800 free relays this week.
Preliminary sessions begin each day at 9 a.m. ET with finals scheduled to get underway at 6 p.m. ET. Fans can stay updated on all the latest action by viewing the meet's live results.
