Two Tigers Qualify for U.S. Women's Amateur Championship

Mizzou golfers Chelsea Schriewer and Lindsey Haupt have qualified for the 2007 United States Women's Amateur Championship, which will be played Aug. 6-12. Schriewer and Haupt each played in the qualifying tournament at the Missouri Bluffs Golf Course in St. Louis on Thursday.

Forty-five golfers participated in the Missouri Bluffs qualifier with just six spots available for the U.S. Amateur. Schriewer shot a one-over-par 72 and placed second among the 45 participants, Haupt carded a 73 and finished among a group of three tied for fifth place. She was second in the playoff to claim the second of the final two spots.

The U.S. Amateur Championship will be played at Crooked Stick Golf Club, which is located just outside of Indianapolis. The tournament will begin with two rounds of stroke play before the field is cut to 64 for match play competition.

Four other Tigers attempted to qualify at the Missouri Bluffs on Thursday. Julia Potter shot a 76, followed by Lindsey Burry (83), Abby Spieler (85) and Kelsey Meyer (89).
