July 10 Gallery - Turf Demolition
COLUMBIA, Mo. - In just a few weeks, the Tiger football team will practice on the same surface on which it plays.
Workers are in their second week of work replacing the turf in the Daniel J. Devine Pavilion. TTI Sports, a Chesterfield, Mo. company, has removed the existing AstroTurf from Mizzou's indoor practice facility, and will begin installation of FieldTurf - the same surface installed on Faurot Field in 2003 - later this week.
The project began on July 2nd with demolition, and the original AstroTurf was completely removed on Tuesday. Installation of the new FieldTurf will begin on Thursday, and should be completely installed by July 31st.
In addition to the turf replacement, the interior of the Devine Pavilion will also receive an aesthetic facelift, as new painting, flooring, lighting, graphics, and other maintenance issues will be addressed. Once the field is down, the ancillary projects will begin, with an expected completion date of August 20.
A total of $610,000 was budgeted for the project; funds were made available from unrestricted gifts to the "Champions For Life" capital campaign.
