SACRAMENTO, Calif.--Seven members of the Missouri Track & Field teams arrived in Sacramento, Calif., Sunday in preparation for the NCAA Championships that begin Wednesday and run until Saturday. Four Tigers earned automatic bids to the meet via the NCAA Mideast Regional that was hosted by Mizzou a week ago. CSTV will air three hours of live coverage on Friday starting at 7:30 p.m. (CT). CBS will air two hours live on Saturday at Noon (CT).

Mizzou Athlete Notes

HOBSON: Making his second appearance at the NCAA Championships, earning an automatic bid for the second straight year after placing fifth at the '07 regional with a personal best throw of 58-9¼ despite a No. 20 regional ranking ... has been one of the most consistent performers for Mizzou in any event over his career, and that consistency has paid off in his second-straight automatic bid ... was fourth at the Big 12 meet earlier this season.

 

LEE: Making first appearance at the NCAA Championships, qualifying automatically in both the hammer and shot put at the regional. Lee broke Mizzou's school record in the hammer with an eight-foot personal best throw of 199-6 in the regional in placing fifth and has added over 45 feet to her best from a year ago. Took second in the shot at the regional, adding over two feet to her PR in that event with a 52-½ mark.

 

MAYES: Making his second appearance at the NCAA Championships at 800 meters and his fifth at an NCAA event ... ran to a personal best of 1:47.71 in placing second to Michigan's Andrew Ellerton at the regional to earn an automatic spot ... was advanced to the regional final via jury of appeal's decision after Mayes was tripped in the preliminary round ... has earned two All-America honors in the event from the past two indoor NCAA events ... was runner-up to Texas' Jacob Hernandez at the Big 12 meet a few weeks ago.

 

MORRIS: Making second appearance at the NCAA Championships in the hammer ... gained entry via an at-large bid from a season's best mark of 214-6 ... sixth at the regional in the event ... has a personal best in the event, and Mizzou's school record, with a throw of 218-11.

 

NICHOLLS: Making first appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships and second at an NCAA event with the shot, having made the indoor meet earlier this season ... transferred from Missouri Baptist prior to this year ... only Tiger to qualify for the regional in three events, the shot put, discus, and hammer ... holds records for her home country of Barbados in the shot put and hammer throw, and is just two centimeters off the discus national record ... has a school-record toss of 56-2¾ with in placing runner-up by a centimeter at the Big 12 Championships to Texas' Michelle Carter.

 

NICKOLEY: Making first NCAA Championship appearance in the 800 and second at an NCAA event ... ran for a season's best 2:05.11 in placing fourth at the regional ... Nickoley has a personal best of 2:05.03 and is a two-time Big 12 Indoor Champion in the event.

 

SOMMERFELDT: Making third-consecutive appearance at the NCAA Championships in the decathlon ... has a season's best of 7,283 and a career best of 7,337 in the event ... was 13th at the NCAA meet two years ago and no heighted in the pole vault a year ago.
