Louisville/Miami (Fla.) Post-Game Quotes

June 1, 2007

Louisville Junior Catcher Derrick Alfonso:
On Coming Back:
"You try not to get down too much. When they made that run it was hard; because you're thinking, 'are they going to blow us up or what?' but I think we stayed focused and we just kept swinging the bat and we believed in ourselves; it paid off."

Louisville Senior Pitcher Kyle Hollander:
On Relief Pitching:
"Gavin came in. He did a great job picking us up; picked up that double play ball. That's really what got the momentum turned over to our side. From there on the offense picked us up."

On facing Miami in the first round:
"I think coming in we were all real confident. We knew we were playing Miami with the tradition and everything. We just wanted to come out and make a statement that we're here. We're a good baseball team. We're here to prove it and we're going to come out and play hard every game for 9 innings."

Louisville Head Coach Dan McDonnell:
"Pitts has carried us all year; so it's nice to pick up your Friday night guy. He's your Friday night guy because he has dominated most of the year. So its nice to see the offense and the bullpen. The bullpen might be a little overlooked. You don't get a lot of awards coming out of middle relievers. But it's those blue collar guys in the middle - Gavin Logsdon and of course the job Kyle Hollander did there. Probably the biggest pitch of the game was the bases loaded pitch to Raben, to get the double play ball up the middle- got us out of the jam, kept it within 3 or 4 runs and then that next inning we put up that 3 spot. So Gavin kyle and Tristan were phenomenal again."

On the win:
"We're happy. That was a big win for our school and for our program."

"Our kids were fired up for this one."
