The Mizzou Women's golf team has been selected for the NCAA Central Regional, as announced by the NCAA Women's Golf Committee on Monday. The selection marks the fifth-consecutive season the Tigers have advanced to the postseason tournament and the ninth trip in the last 10 years.
The Central Regional will take place at the University of Michigan Golf Course in Ann Arbor, Mich. on May 10-12. Missouri will be the 14th seed in the 21-team field of the Regional.
"We are fired up about our season progressing for another week," Head Coach Stephanie Priesmeyer said. "This is a great experience for our young team and we really want to be in this position every year, working our way back to the National Championships."
Mizzou is one of five Big 12 teams to qualify, including Baylor who joins the Tigers in the Central Regional. Oklahoma State and Nebraska will compete at the West Regional, while Texas A&M heads to the East Regional.
"Michigan has a great University golf course to host such an event," Priesmeyer said. "I know our team will enjoy the course and the competition next week in Ann Arbor."
Three regional tournaments will be conducted to determine the field for the NCAA Championships. A total of 324 participants have been selected for the regional round. Of those players, 126 will advance to the NCAA Championships with eight teams and two individuals coming out of each region.
The NCAA Championships will be held May 22-25 at the LPGA International Legends Course in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Live scoring for the Central Regional will be available on mutigers.com through golfstat.com.
