Accolades Begin To Roll In For Mizzou Signees

April 16, 2007

Last Friday and Saturday were very exciting for Missouri women's basketball signee Danielle Adams, while next Sunday could be even bigger for Adams or her future teammate, Shakara Jones.

One of the Tigers' five signees from the fall, Adams of Lee's Summit HS picked up two awards in a span of 24 hours over the weekend.

On Friday night she was named the 2007 DiRenna Award winner, presented annually to the top prep basketball player in the Kansas City metro area by the Greater Kansas City Basketball Coaches Association. In the 11 years of the girls honor, this is the third time a future Mizzou player won the award (Tracy Lozier in 1999 & 2000).

A day later Adams was named the All-Metro Player of the Year by the Kansas City Star and then scored a game-high 23 points in the Kansas vs. Missouri All-Star Challenge as she led the Missouri team to a 90-79 win. She also teamed with Raytown's Reggie Chamberlain to win the three-point contest at halftime.

Adams and Jones of Francis Howell Central HS in St. Charles, Mo. were announced as two of the 10 finalists for the 2007 Miss Show-Me Basketball, presented by the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association. The winners will be selected from a panel of college assistant coaches and will be announced at the MBCA Academic All-State Banquet on Sunday, April 15.
